Meet the artist behind the magical photos of Ottawa this Friday, on display at Shanghai for a few weeks.

Friday, December 22 at 8:00 PM

Amanda is an Ottawa-based photographer,who draws her inspiration from the beauty of the natural world. She is often found in the forest, photographing fungi and other woodland wonders.

Her first photography show is on display at Shanghai Restaurant in Chinatown through January 11th, 2018. Come celebrate with her and enjoy some delicious eats and drinks at the vernissage : December 22nd at 8pm.

Travel SOUVENIRS de voyages

Artist René Rivard started drawing in earnest at 14 and has never stopped producing art. After teaching for five years,  he studied fine arts at the École des Beaux-Arts de Montréal (UQAM).

Various day jobs helped to pay the  rent, these were mostly in the field of mental health with a special focus on services for the Deaf and
hard of hearing.

René loves to travel. He photographs landscapes, especially mountains which he then transforms into  paintings.

The artist seldom exhibits his works and is thankful to Claude Jobin who facilitated this exhibition.

Remixed Call for Artists – 2017

Remixed (formally Chinatown Remixed) is a month long festival of art and community that takes place in and around businesses in Chinatown and on Somerset St W. Selected artists will be partnered with participating businesses to display art throughout the festival, thus remixing everyday restaurants, shops, cafes, salons, and alleyways into non-traditional art spaces.

The opening celebration/vernissage will take place from during the day on Saturday September 16th – rain or shine. All artists will be expected to be present in their partner business during the opening for a minimum of 2 hours. Thanks to our sponsors and the City of Ottawa, all artists will receive an honorarium for their participation.

This project is organized by the Remixed Collective (RC). We are an volunteer, Ottawa- based not-for-profit art collective, and our mission is to nurture Ottawa’s diverse arts communities. If you have any questions about the submissions process, get in touch via email:

The Ottawa Comic Jam “Super Jam” invites participants of all ages to start, continue and complete group effort improvised comic strip stories.

It’s been quite a year! Come out to the LAST JAM of the season and draw your inspired (or twisted) versions of favorite yuletide icons. If you’ve been putting off attending a jam, now is your chance to get out to one before the End of Days. No excuses n__n

I have heard rumours that there may be treats involved n_n

I’m also bringing a box destined for the Food Bank, if folks would like to bring non-perishable foods to donate on behalf of the Ottawa Comic Jam Group 🙂 totally voluntary ♥

The art of the comic jam explores artistic collaboration, visual arts, and story telling. Comic jams challenge the creativity and improvisation skills of the participants as they start, continue or complete a comic strip story.

Call for Artist Submissions 2015

The CHINATOWN REMIXED COLLECTIVE would like to invite all emerging and established artists to participate in CHINATOWN REMIXED. This will be Chinatown Remixed’s seventh year showcasing art in non-traditional spaces such as: grocery stores, restaurants, cafés, alleyways and hair salons.

This project is organized by the Chinatown Remixed Collective, an Ottawa-based not-for-profit art collective working in collaboration with independent businesses located on Somerset Street West. Our mission is to nurture the arts community in Ottawa.

Artwork selected through this Call for Submissions will be displayed from September 19th until October 19th 2015.

The grand opening of the exhibits, including vernissages and an artist walking tour, will take place on Saturday, September 19th 2pm – 11pm, 2015 at select locations on Somerset Street West.

Artists are invited to submit original artwork to be included in the Chinatown Remixed festival. Submissions are encouraged for programming on September 19th, as well as for display in Somerset West businesses during the festival.

Acceptable mediums include: video, painting, drawing, print, photography, sculpture music, and performance.

Artists may include up to (4) pieces of artwork within a single submission if they are meant to be displayed together. An artist can submit multiple proposals if the contents are different, for instance a performance piece for September 19th followed by a painting for display in a businesses.
